Week 19 of Year 2 "Not One Sparrow"

Menu

For adult study: "Not One Sparrow"

The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, titled Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.

Paper 165:3
The Urantia Book

Not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight

Students may read Paper 165:3.4 or entire section

Thousands of people gathered to hear Jesus speak one day. He told them to beware of the Pharisees and their secret plans. But he also said they should not be afraid. Then, Jesus talked about tiny birds saying, “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight.” And as for people, Jesus said, “The very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

Discussion Questions

Why do you think each one of us is valuable to God? Jesus often said, “Fear not,” and “Be not afraid.” Why do people struggle with fear so much? Whenever we feel afraid, we can remember that God knows us and loves us.

The Lord is the strength of my life.

Of whom shall I be afraid?

Though an host should encamp against me,

My heart shall not fear.

Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage.

And He shall strengthen thine heart.  (Judaism)

[Saith the Lord:]

"Fear not; for, verily I am with you.

I will hear, and see."  (Islam)
