Week 30 of Year 4 "To the Apostles"

Menu

For adult study: "To the Apostles"

The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, titled Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.

Paper 191:2
The Urantia Book

Jesus himself stood in the midst of them

Students may read Paper 191:2

On Sunday morning, the apostles heard reports that Jesus’ tomb was empty. They also heard from people who said they had actually seen Jesus. But the apostles were filled with doubt and fear. Finally on Sunday evening, Jesus appeared to the apostles. All of them were present except Thomas. It happened when they were inside the house that served as their hiding place. The doors were locked, but Jesus suddenly appeared among them saying, “Peace be upon you.”

Discussion Questions

Jesus had promised his apostles many times that he would rise from the dead on the third day. Why did they not have faith in that promise? Can you think of some promises that Jesus makes, even now, to all of us?
