The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, titled Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.
The Urantia Book
Jesus and the disciples came ashore near a cliff on the Sea of Galilee. There, they met a man who lived alone among the tombs. People were afraid of him because he acted wildly. They had even tried to restrain him with chains. When he saw Jesus, he fell down before him. Jesus spoke to the man and his mind was restored. Suddenly, a herd of swine rushed over the cliff to their deaths. Everyone believed that a legion of devils had left the man and entered into the swine.
Without the Lord, the soul is bound.
By knowing God, one is released from all fetters.
The One God rules over both the perishable and the soul.
By meditation on Him, by union with Him,
By entering into His being more and more
There is finally cessation from every illusion.
By knowing God, there is a falling off of all fetters. (Hinduism)
Freedom from bonds is in your innermost heart. (Jainism)
