Week 13 of Year 3 "Announcement to Mary"

Menu

For adult study: "Announcement to Mary"

The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.

Paper 122:3
The Urantia Book

Of his kingdom there will be no end

Students may read Paper 122:3
Mary and Joseph lived in the city of Nazareth in Galilee. One day, as Mary was going about her daily chores, something astonishing happened. A heavenly messenger, known as the angel Gabriel, appeared to Mary. Gabriel told her that she had been chosen to give birth to a son saying, “The baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.” Gabriel informed Mary that her relative Elizabeth would also give birth to a son. He would prepare the way for Jesus.
Discussion Questions
How do you think Mary felt after Gabriel made his announcement? How did it help Mary that Gabriel had also appeared to Elizabeth? Mary needed to place her faith and trust in God. We can remember, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
