The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.
Paper 152:2-3
The Urantia Book
You might remember that Jesus fed five thousand people with five barley loaves and two fishes. Something else happened immediately after the miracle of the loaves and fishes. The people said to each other, “Surely, he is the prophet we have been expecting!” The excited multitude then arose to seize Jesus and make him king. But Jesus would not allow it. He turned to his disciples and told them to row back to Bethsaida. And then, he left them and went into the hills alone.
Discussion Questions
Why did the people want to make Jesus king? How do you think they reacted when Jesus refused to be their earthly king? Jesus wanted his followers to honor the Father who is the ruler of the heavenly kingdom. Where is this kingdom?
The Lord, the Ruler of all, the great Shelter of all,
The Controller of the whole world, the great primeval Person,
The Soul that is set in the heart of a creature here
I know this undecaying, primeval Soul of all,
Present in everything through immanence. (Hinduism)
Behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Christianity)
