Extra Lesson "The Gentile Woman"

For adult study: "The Gentile Woman"

The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, titled Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.

Paper 156:1
The Urantia Book

Oh woman, great is your faith

Students may read Paper 156:1

Jesus and the disciples traveled north to the cities of Tyre and Sidon. Everywhere Jesus went, people sought him for healing. A certain woman found out where Jesus was staying and went there to obtain healing for her daughter. She believed her daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit. When the disciples saw her, they wanted to send her away. Several things were said, but the woman persisted. Jesus declared,  “Oh woman, great is your faith,” and her daughter was made whole.

Discussion Questions

Do you have questions about what was said in the story? How would you describe the woman who sought healing for her daughter? Jesus took notice of her faith.  Can you remember some things that Jesus said about faith?
