Week 12 of Year 4 "The Transfiguration - Part 3"

For adult study: "The Transfiguration - Part 3"

The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, titled Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.

Paper 158:0-3
The Urantia Book

This is my beloved Son

Students may read Paper 158:1.8-10 or all of sections 0-3

Peter, James, and John went up a high mountain with Jesus. When they reached their destination, the three disciples had an amazing experience. First, they saw Jesus with two others shining in heavenly light. Then, a bright cloud came over them, and they heard a voice say, “This is my beloved Son; give heed to him.” The disciples were very afraid, and they fell on their faces in awe and worship. When the cloud disappeared, the disciples found themselves alone with Jesus.

Discussion Questions

Talk about the divine voice and the meaning of what was said. Why do you think the three disciples were given this unusual experience? Ordinary people, like us, can have a spiritual experience. What is meant by that, and when does it happen?

Re: Our Creator Son

128:1.2 ... It is literally true that the creative Word—the Creator Son—of the Universal Father was “made flesh and dwelt as a man of the realm on Urantia.” ...

128:1.5  It is forever and gloriously true: “We have a high ruler who can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. We have a Sovereign who was in all points tested and tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” ...
