Week 14 of Year 2 "Born in a Stable"

For adult study: "Born in a Stable"

The story summary and questions were written in a way that makes it possible to use a New Testament reference in place of the Urantia reference. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.

The Urantia Book

She gave birth to her firstborn son

Students may read Paper 122:7.7 through 8.4

Joseph and Mary arrived in the city of Bethlehem after the long journey from Nazareth. They had come to Bethlehem to add their names to the census of the Roman Empire. The inn was completely full with other travelers, but Joseph and Mary were told they could stay in a nearby stable. After settling in, Mary gave birth to baby Jesus. We remember that, “She wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

Discussion Questions

The birth of baby Jesus filled Mary and Joseph with joy. What hardships did they face during this time of happiness? At Christmastime, we celebrate the joy of Jesus’ birth. What kinds of things cause us to forget what Christmas is about?
