Extra Lesson "Arrival of Melchizedek"

Menu

For adult study: "Arrival of Melchizedek"

This extra lesson was specifically designed to coordinate with The Urantia Book. However, a suggested reading from the Bible is given below. A selected chapter from a 1932 book, titled Treasure-House of the Living Religions, supports a spiritual theme that is found within the story. Children will use a one page handout that includes a coloring picture.

Paper 93:2.1-3
The Urantia Book

I am Melchizedek, priest of El Elyon

Students may read Paper 93:2.1-3 or entire section

Four thousand years ago, Melchizedek appeared on earth to teach us about God. He entered the tent of a shepherd named Amdon and said, “I am Melchizedek, priest of El Elyon, the Most High, the one and only God.” Amdon was greatly surprised, but soon he and Melchizedek talked and ate a meal together. Later, Melchizedek and Amdon looked up at the night sky. Melchizedek told Amdon that El Elyon created the stars and the earth. “He is also the supreme God of heaven.”

Discussion Questions

The word “El Elyon” was a Hebrew name for God. Melchizedek taught us to trust God and live by faith. What are some things we believe about God that help us to trust him? When we see the stars at night, what can we think about?
